    Oculus is pleased to announce that they’ve acquired RakNet. Oculus has open-sourced it starting today under a modified BSD license (the same license Facebook uses for its open source projects) from the Oculus GitHub repo: https://github.com/OculusVR/RakNet.

  • Slant Six Games Chooses RakNet for Multi-Platform Project

    Jenkins Software announced today that Slant Six Games will use RakNet 4, Jenkins Software’s high performance network engine, for its latest undisclosed project. Slant Six, winners of the IGN Best of 2010 Award, is best known for its SOCOM games on Sony game systems, as well as building the graphics engine for the massively popular Syphon Filter: Dark Mirror.

  • RakNet Chosen by Bigpoint as Networking Solution for Upcoming Multiplayer RPG Drakensang Online

    Jenkins Software announced today that Bigpoint will use Jenkins Software’s high performance network engine RakNet 4 for its upcoming browser-based massively multiplayer online game, Drakensang Online. Bigpoint chose to use the latest release ofRakNet for its game to take advantage of the new features as well as RakNet’s direct developer support.

  • RakNet Joins the XBOX 360 Tools and Middleware Program

    RakNet has now added XBOX 360 support with direct integration for voice chat and online sessions. Session support includes necessary network communication built-in, including host migration and handshaking for ranked and unranked matches. The online services interface is similar to that of other platforms, allowing cross-platform developers access to these features with a minimum of code duplication.

  • Vision Engine to Include RakNet 4 Free of Charge

    Trinigy, an industry leading 3D game engine provider with over 150 licensees and offices in Germany, Austin, TX and Seoul, Korea, announced today that it will include the cross-platform networking engine RakNet 4 in its Vision Engine free of charge. In addition, Trinigy and the RakNet team at Jenkins Software have co-developed a feature-rich integration, which will enable game developers to more efficiently implement advanced networking functionality in any type of game, on any platform, for free. Trinigy recently announced a similar technology integration with FMOD.
